Italian Greyhound Shoes by Alain Quilici for David Koma
I imagine myself living in a posh pad in NYC and walking my Italian Greyhound on a crisp October evening wearing these Italian Greyhound shoes by Alain Quilici for David Koma. A few things would need to change to make that happen, #1) I would have to move to New York #2) I would have to come up with $1,625.00 to buy the shoes and #3) I would need to find someone to sell me a pair as the are very hard to find. These pieces were meant to accent the wardrobe but the dog-lover shoes turned out to steal the runway that showcased the winter 2012 fashion line.
A basic black mesh ankle boot accented by silver Italian Greyhounds.
This is the complete black line worn at fashion week, they had ankle boots as well as higher boots and the Italian Greyhounds sculpted into the heel came in silver, black and gold.
Here is an example of the black Italian Greyhound shoes with black greyhounds sculpted into the heels.
If boots aren’t your thing, they have Italian Greyhound pumps by Alain Quilici for David Koma. This silver number has a point toe and at 5″ high these shouldn’t be your first pair of heels.
Blue heels with black Italian Greyhounds sculpted into them.
And, not necessarily for winter (although white and creme are in this winter) they also come in white!
There are so many feline products out there, it’s about time dog lovers got some action in fashion! Thank you for shedding light on the power, grace and beauty of the greyhound and Italian Greyhound breeds with these shoes!
“aristocracy and pure elegance, and at the same time it’s so fast and sporty!”—the perfect metaphor for the collection, says Vogue.
If you are lucky enough to afford these shoes, please consider thinking twice and donating to ROMP Italian Greyhound Rescue as we are a 100% non-profit, 100% volunteer based, 100% foster based rescue organization that primarily rescues Italian Greyhounds and small breeds that would otherwise be discarded (they typically come from high kill shelters and mills). And we can really use the funds to help rescue, rehabilitate, vet, and rehome more of these sweet, graceful, and amazing creatures that deserve a second chance at life!
If you are set on buying them, I found a few pairs left here for a slight discount, it will only put you out $1099 but (as of March 2013) you better be a size 8, 10 or 11 since those are the only sizes left.
And if you need the perfect outfit to wear them with, what greyhound lover and fashionista wouldn’t pick this piece! So chic! Check it out here along with David Koma’s entire fall 2012 runway line featuring Alain Quilici’s greyhound shoes!
PS The press refers to the shoes as Greyhound shoes, I call them Italian Greyhound shoes because we are an Italian Greyhound group 🙂 (the breeds have the same body time as both are sighthounds although the two are completely different sizes and have very different personalities). However, according to other sites, you will find them as ‘whippet.’
